Jabba The Hutt : Who was He?

Jabba The Hutt is a 600 year old alien gangster who runs a large criminal empire operating throughout the Star Wars galaxy. He lives in a palace on the planet Tatooine where he gathers a great many of the galaxies smugglers, assassins and various other criminals around him to do his bidding. Jabba is a very vile and loathsome creature who has absolutely no sense of decency and enjoys committing his acts of evil.

Jabba is first shown in Star Wars Episode IV:A New Hope as the crime lord that renegade pilot Han Solo owes money to. He is mentioned again in Star Wars Episode V:The Empire Strikes Back when Han is frozen in carbonite and taken to Jabba by the bounty hunter Bobba Fett.

Jabba is again seen in at the beginning of Star Wars Episode VI:Return Of The Jedi when Luke Skywalker and his friends go to his palace to rescue Han Solo, who’s been put on display as one of Jabbas decorations. Jabba refuses to bargain and attempts to feed Luke to his pet Rancor. When this fails, Jabba orders Luke, Han and Chewbacca to be thrown into the pit of Sarlac. But Luke and his friends break free and Princess Leia, who Jabba The Hutt had taken prisoner, kills him with her own slave chain before escaping.

Jabba The Hutt is seen once more in Star Wars Episode I:The Phantom Menace where he hosts the Boonta eve Tatooine pod race which is won by Anakin Skywalker.
